Pelican Pointe Golf and Country Club in Venice Florida
Post updated in January 2018
Pelican Pointe Golf & Country Club is more than “another” Community in Venice. Pelican Pointe is an award-winning Golf Course Community with a particular focus on a relaxed lifestyle – With Style.
That sounds already good, doesn’t it? But, that’s what everybody says. Nice try. Okay: For the past eight years, Pelican Pointe was featured the most desirable community – yes – and there is a reason for it: Pelican Pointe is just minutes away from downtown Venice, which is the heart of the city, and also only minutes away from the beautiful Gulf of Mexico’s beaches.

Downtown Venice, which is also called “The Island of Venice” or “Venice Isle,” is a charming and artistic community filled with small boutiques, shops, a variety of excellent restaurants, sidewalk cafés and art galleries.
So, there are sidewalk cafés like in Venice, Italy? And you can sit on a pier while watching the sunset.? Yes, there is live music, and people will be out on the street enjoying the warm nights… and the music. There will beparade, festivals, and art exhibitions.

However, let’s stop bragging about Venice – let us return to Pelican Pointe. So, at least you have learned so far that this community is not out in the boonies. Once you have passed the friendly people at the gate, you will notice the difference: more than half of the community is dedicated to natural habitat preservation and recreation. The gated community features a 27- holes award-winning championship golf course, a state-of-the-art fitness center, tennis courts and a heated Olympic size pool within a beautiful tropical surrounding.
Pelican Point is a place where life feels different: tall mature oaks, quiet shaded streets, panoramic lake views and a meandering stream create a home for endless wildlife and humans alike. All this in the center of a city. You are close to everything, and you are living in sub-tropical paradise.
There is absolutely no reason to be lazy at night – get in your golf cart and drive up to the 22,000 square foot clubhouse. The large clubhouse is the focal point of the community – where you can enjoy a drink with friends or have lunch or dinner.
Of course, there is an abundance of other activities as well. Biking, running, tennis, golfing, sweating in the fitness room or swimming a few rounds in the jr. Olympic pool….you see, you don’t have to spend the rest of your life on the couch. By the way, right at the entrance is a large YMCA. That may be another choice for active people.
A little over 1,300 homes are in Pelican Pointe, which is divided into 6 sections: Pelican Pointe 1 and 2, The Links, The Sanctuary, The Arbors and The Villas. Villas range from 1,100 to 1,700 sq ft and single-family homes from 1,400 to whopping 5,000 sq ft …and over. Social membership and basic cable are included in the monthly fees; exterior and/or ground maintenance is only included in certain sections.
You will not find any “brand new” homes in the community. The community was built in the 90’s. Some properties are entirely and beautifully updated, and others need some love. Location is always the king in real estate.

Community Pool
Because the neighborhood associations vary in size and amenities, the fees do as well. Pelican Pointe is, of course, a Deed restricted Community governed by Neighborhood Homeowner’s Associations.
The Master Homeowner Association, with the representatives from each neighborhood, is responsible for overall appearance and security of the entire community. The Neighborhood Associations are sweating the small stuff: no trucks, no boats, no refrigerators on the driveway. Sorry about that – they just don’t like it.
Just another disappointment: There are no pelicans in Pelican Pointe – where are they? Check out the beach. They are only a short 5-minute drive away from you.
