Discover Heron Creek Golf and Country Club in North Port Florida
Everything you always wanted to know about Heron Creek Golf C. C. in North Port, Florida
Two exceptional golf communities are dominating the market in North Port, Florida. Both are deed restricted, gated communities, and both are built around beautifully designed golf courses. However, here comes already the first distinction: The master planned Heron Creek Community, with 675 homes and its emphasis on preserving and enhancing the natural environment, has incorporated a 27-hole championship golf course designed by Arthur Hills.
The second one, Bobcat Trail (447 homes and 110 villas) also offers plenty of activities for homeowners who want to enjoy an active lifestyle, but their 4 ½ star (ranked by Golf Digest) championship golf course, designed by Bob Tway, comes only with 18 holes. 18 versus 27 holes – is that a big deal? Maybe it is, maybe it is not.
For now let’s focus on Heron Creek, which consists of 16 neighborhoods*, all nestled into a beautiful Florida environment. More than 430 acres of the total 676 acres are used for the golf course or for protected nature preserves. Native trees and sparkling lakes provide natural habitats and retreats for the native wildlife.
An amazing selection of beautiful homes are available in Heron Creek, and for those who want to build their own dream home, there is good news too: there are still home sites available. All home sites are bordered by shimmering lakes, fairway views, or nature preserve views.
What does Heron Creek offer? An impressive two level, 21,000 sq.ft Clubhouse is the anchor of the community. A formal dining room, a more casual grill room, a private meeting room and a seriously- equipped Golf Pro Shop are located in the clubhouse. Across from the parking lot is another facility worth mentioning. A state of the art fitness center will you get back in shape. After evaporating gallons of sweat you can finish your iron-man exercise in the resort style pool, play tennis or give your aching bones a well-deserved rest in the spa. How does that sound?
Membership plans are available for access to all offered activities, and if you don’t play tennis or golf yet, there are professionals readily available to teach you the necessary skills. Read more about the membership Programs for residents.
Now you know what is going on inside of the Heron Creek community, but does the world end at the gate? Of course not! North Port is a thriving community of its own and Heron Creek is right in the center of all the activities. Adjacent is the Towne Center retail complex. Publix (grocery store) and a variety of other retail stores are enhancing the location and are just steps away.
City Hall, the Performing arts Center, an activities center and athletic fields are close by. The City Center is still in the making and once finished there will be even more retail shops, professional offices, restaurants, a library and …whatever you can think off (almost).
Is that all? Nope, it is not. Always remember, that North Port, located in southern Sarasota County, is only a short drive away from Sarasota and Fort Myers. Cultural activities, fine dining, film festivals, sports events, and an endless array of things to do are only a stone’s throw away from Heron Creek. The beaches in Englewood are a short drive away, and boating and fishing is also close by. Three international Airports are located within an one hour radius (Sarasota, Tampa and Fort Myers).
Because many of the homeowners in Heron Creek are retirees, like everywhere in Florida, younger folks likes to know: Is Heron Creek a possible place for a young family?
Why not? We actually know young families in Heron Creek and they love it there. An A+ rated elementary school is close by and Heron Creek Middle School and North Port High School are also easily accessible. North Port High School opened its doors in 2001 and is equipped with the latest in technology and uses innovative teaching methods. North Port has invested a lot of money into the education system and it really pays.
The reason why there are not too many families in the community is easy to explain: The fees are pretty steep and most young families don’t want to spend so much money every month.
